Keeping It Fresh

Carnations are one of the longest-lasting cut flowers — seven to ten days or more in Singapore’s climate with a little care:

1. Unwrap and trim 2cm off each stem at an angle. Cut carnations between the nodes, not on the swollen joint, so they drink properly.
2. Clean vase, fresh water, and the flower food sachet provided.
3. Change the water every two days and re-trim.
4. Keep away from direct sun, air-con vents and ripening fruit — carnations are especially sensitive to the ethylene gas fruit gives off.
