The Orient — 10 White Rose Hand Bouquet
Ten white roses gathered with clouds of baby’s breath and silver-green eucalyptus, hand-wrapped in kraft paper and finished with a raffia tie. Simple, uncluttered, and quietly expensive-looking in a way that red rarely manages.
Why White Roses Work for Almost Anything
Red roses declare romance and nothing else — send them to a colleague and you’ve created a problem. Pink implies affection. Yellow means friendship in some contexts and jealousy in others, depending on who you ask.
White carries no such risk. Across Singapore’s cultures it reads as sincerity, respect and new beginnings, which makes it the one palette that is never inappropriate. In practice this bouquet is ordered for all of the following:
- Weddings and engagements — bridesmaid bouquets, registry ceremonies, small civil weddings
- Anniversaries — a more restrained alternative to red
- Congratulations — graduations, promotions, new homes, new jobs
- Apologies — sincerity without the intensity red implies
- Condolences and remembrance — white roses are traditional at Singapore wakes and memorial services
- Colleagues, clients and teachers — warmth with no romantic implication at all
If you’re buying for someone whose situation you don’t fully know, or for an occasion you’re unsure how to read, white is the answer.
What’s in the Bouquet
- 10 white roses — full-headed premium grade, selected on the morning of arrangement
- White baby’s breath (gypsophila) — the fine filler that gives the bouquet its volume and softness
- Fresh eucalyptus — silver-green foliage with its own clean, cool scent
- Seasonal foliage — framing the blooms and adding depth
- Kraft paper wrap with a raffia tie
- Complimentary message card — write your message at checkout and our florists will hand-write it
Why Ten Stems?
Ten is a deliberate middle. Six reads as a modest gesture; twelve carries the weight of a romantic declaration. Ten sits between them — generous enough to look substantial in the hand and in photographs, without committing you to a message you didn’t intend to send. It’s also the count that photographs best in a rounded hand-tied wrap, which matters more than people expect given how often bouquets are photographed before they’re put in water.
How to Keep Them Fresh
Expect 5–7 days of vase life in Singapore’s climate:
- Unwrap and trim. Cut 2–3cm off each stem at a 45° angle under running water.
- Use clean, cool water. Change it every two days and rinse the vase each time — bacteria, not thirst, is what kills cut roses.
- Strip submerged leaves. Anything below the waterline will rot and cloud the water.
- Keep away from aircon vents, direct sun and fruit bowls. Ripening fruit releases ethylene gas, which ages flowers quickly.
- Watch the white petals. White roses show bruising more readily than coloured ones — handle by the stems, not the heads.
Baby’s breath and eucalyptus will outlast the roses. Once the roses fade, the remaining stems still make a respectable smaller arrangement.
