Sweet Love — Six Blooms in a Cloud of Baby’s Breath
Sweet Love is a small bouquet that photographs like a bigger one. Three light pink carnations and three red roses sit inside a full mass of white baby’s breath, so the arrangement reads soft and generous rather than sparse, and the pale pink wrap with its red ribbon picks up both flower colours. It’s the S$60 bouquet we recommend most often, because it does the job for almost every occasion that isn’t a proposal.
The colour pairing is deliberate. Pink carnations traditionally mean gratitude and affection; red roses mean love. Together they say “I care about you” with a little warmth behind it — which is exactly right for a birthday, a thank-you, a mother, a teacher, or someone you’ve only recently started seeing.
What’s in the Bouquet
- 3 light pink carnations — ruffled, full-headed, and the longest-lasting bloom in the bouquet
- 3 red roses — chosen with tight heads that open over the first two days
- White baby’s breath (gypsophila) — used generously as the body of the bouquet, not just as filler
- Soft pink hand-tied wrap with a red satin ribbon
- Complimentary message card, handwritten
When to Send It
Because it isn’t dozen-red-roses romantic, Sweet Love works in the places a bigger rose bouquet would be awkward. It’s a natural birthday bouquet, a thank-you for a colleague or a neighbour, and — with those pink carnations — one of our most-ordered Mother’s Day and Teachers’ Day bouquets. If you’re ordering for several teachers or colleagues at once, call us and we’ll arrange the group delivery.
Keeping It Fresh
This bouquet ages in two stages, and it helps to know that going in. The roses will give you three to five good days; the carnations and baby’s breath will run for seven to ten days or more. When the roses start to tire, lift them out and re-cut the rest — the bouquet keeps going for another week.
- Unwrap and trim 2cm off every stem at an angle. Cut the carnations between the nodes, not on the joint.
- Clean vase, fresh water, the flower food sachet provided.
- Change the water every two days and re-trim.
- Keep away from direct sun, air-con vents and ripening fruit — carnations are especially sensitive to the ethylene fruit gives off.
When the carnations finally go, don’t throw out the baby’s breath. Hang it upside down somewhere dry for a week or two and it will keep for months.
