Fresh Roses, Dried Cotton — Two Different Lifespans

The roses are fresh and will last 5 to 7 days like any cut rose. The cotton is dried, and dried cotton doesn’t wilt — it holds its shape and colour for months with no water at all. Once the roses have finished, the cotton bolls can be pulled out, gathered, and kept on their own as a small dried arrangement, so the gift outlasts the week it was given in.

How to Keep Them Fresh

1. Unwrap and trim the roses. Cut 2–3cm off each stem at a 45° angle under running water.
2. Use clean, cool water and change it every two days.
3. Keep the cotton away from water where you can — dried stems in a wet vase will eventually soften. It’s fine while arranged with the fresh flowers, but it fares best once separated and dried out again.
4. Keep away from aircon vents, direct sun and fruit bowls. Ripening fruit ages fresh flowers quickly, though it won’t affect the dried cotton.
