Why the Ruscus Matters

Most red rose bouquets rely on baby’s breath alone. Ruscus adds a second layer — glossy, arrow-shaped leaves that give the composition more structure, and stay looking fresh well past the point most filler foliage has wilted. It’s a small addition that makes the bouquet read as fuller and more considered.

How to Keep Them Fresh

1. Unwrap and trim. Cut 2–3cm off each stem at a 45° angle under running water.
2. Use clean, cool water. Change it every two days and rinse the vase each time.
3. Strip submerged leaves. Anything below the waterline rots and clouds the water.
4. Keep away from aircon vents, direct sun and fruit bowls. Ripening fruit releases ethylene gas, which ages flowers quickly.

Ruscus and baby’s breath will both outlast the roses comfortably.
