How to Keep Them Fresh

1. Unwrap and trim. Cut 2–3cm off each stem at a 45° angle under running water.
2. Use clean, cool water. Change it every two days and rinse the vase each time.
3. Strip submerged leaves. Anything below the waterline rots and clouds the water.
4. Keep away from aircon vents, direct sun and fruit bowls. Ripening fruit releases ethylene gas, which ages flowers quickly.

The statice and caspia dry particularly well — once the carnations finish, hang the remaining stems for a small dried arrangement that lasts months.
