Artificial Caladium Hanging Plant — One-Sided (Flat Back)
What “One-Sided” Means
A standard hanging plant is built in the round — foliage projecting evenly in every direction. A one-sided plant is built flat on the back and full on the front, so it sits flush against a wall, a green wall frame, a shelf edge or a planter rim with no gap and no crushed foliage. It also tiles neatly against neighbouring units — the difference between a green wall that reads as continuous and one that reads as separate plants bolted to a board.
Why Caladium Specifically Suits Artificial
Caladium is prized for one thing above all: its foliage. Heart-shaped leaves marbled in pink, white and green, some varieties dramatic enough to be mistaken for a flowering plant despite never producing a real bloom of note. But caladium is a tuberous plant, not an evergreen — grown outdoors or in temperate greenhouse conditions, it naturally dies back to nothing for part of the year as the tuber goes dormant, dropping every leaf until it regrows from scratch.
That cycle makes real caladium a poor fit for permanent decorative planting of any kind, let alone a green wall meant to look full and finished year-round. This artificial version holds the pattern permanently — no dormant season, no bare stretch of months with nothing to show.
Where It’s Used
- Green walls and vertical gardens — tile across a frame for continuous coverage; see our green wall service
- Planter and trough skirting — draped over the rim to soften a hard edge
- Shelf and cabinet edges — trailing colour down the face of a unit
- Events and weddings — backdrop walls and photo-wall infill; see our wedding décor range
Installation Notes
Overlap, don’t abut. Overlap each unit by 15–20% so foliage from one breaks the line of the next — the difference between a professional green wall and an obviously assembled one.
Mix leaf types. Caladium’s bold pink-white patterning pairs especially well with plainer green foliage like our Fittonia or Coleus one-sided plants, giving a wall both colour and texture variation.
Fix through the base with cable ties, wire or staples — not adhesive, which fails in Singapore humidity.
Nine Varieties in This Range
This caladium is one of a wider family of one-sided hanging plants we stock — including fern, fittonia, coleus, codiaeum and firmoss varieties — all built to the same flat-back specification so they tile and mix together. See the full one-sided hanging plant range.
Care
Dust every few months with a soft brush or a cool-setting hairdryer. No pollen, no soil and nothing to water.
Outdoor Use
Suitable for sheltered semi-outdoor positions such as covered walkways and balconies. For exposed outdoor walls, ask about UV-stabilised outdoor-grade foliage.
