Artificial Alocasia Amazonica – The Elephant Ear Without the Fuss
The Alocasia Amazonica is one of the most striking houseplants you can own, and one of the hardest to keep. Real ones drop leaves when moved, go dormant, attract spider mites and struggle in air-conditioned rooms. This artificial Alocasia Amazonica keeps everything people love about the plant: glossy, arrow-shaped leaves in deep green, crisp white veins and gently scalloped edges. It needs no care at all.
What Makes It Stand Out
- High-contrast leaves: the dark foliage and bright white venation give it a graphic, almost sculptural look.
- Wavy, arrow-shaped leaf edges: the signature Amazonica silhouette, on upright stems at different heights.
- Tabletop-to-low-floor height: ~2ft (60cm) suits a console, a sideboard or a low stand.
- Potted and ready: supplied in a black pot that fits most decorative planters.
Where It Looks Best
- Against white, grey or light timber walls, where the veins stand out most.
- Homes: TV consoles, sideboards, bedroom corners and entryways.
- Offices and studios: reception counters and meeting rooms. See office artificial plants.
- Cafés and boutiques: a statement plant for counters, window displays and photo-friendly corners.
Amazonica, Polly or Cucullata?
The Amazonica (this plant) has the tallest, most dramatic leaves of our compact alocasias. The Alocasia Polly (African Mask Plant, 50cm) is its more compact cousin with tighter leaves. For bright green instead of dark, choose the Alocasia Cucullata (Buddha’s Hand). For floor height, go for the Alocasia Brisbanensis (100cm).
Care
Dust with a soft dry cloth or a hairdryer on a cool setting, and gently fan out the leaves after unpacking. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to preserve the dark leaf colour.
